Mission:  delivering superb bottom line results through exemplary interim executive management.

Presentation check point #3: sometimes the clearest vision comes from an outsider.
Candor, listening and doing the right thing eventually reap huge profits.

Companies are predominantly interested in getting one of their competitors' people.

My strength of being "a marketing/GM guy who understands how to build successful businesses" rather than a "specific industry guy who tries to understand marketing and general management" is based on three examples.

1. Before Richard Fairbank founded and became Chairman and CEO of CapitalOne, he had no experience with credit cards. What he understands and believes in is the power of information, technology and market research to bring customized solutions to consumers. CapitalOne is now one of the leading credit card companies in the world. Mr. Fairbank knows how to listen to customers and develop leading edge solutions to build competitive advantages and barriers to entry just as I do.

2. Jack Welch was no expert in jet engines, consumer goods or cat scanners. He was an exemplary strategist, tactician and most of all a great leader who knew how to leverage people. It's unlikely you would turn down Mr. Welch if he decided to come out of retirement to join your company just because he didn't have specific industry experience. My leadership, strategic planning expertise and cross industry experience would be of greater value to you than someone who knows only your specific industry.

3. Alan Mulally, President and CEO of the Ford Motor Company, knew nothing of the auto industry and was initially mocked by insiders. His confidence, analytical perspective, desire to listen to the truth and demand for candor were pivotal to Ford's resurgence. The following eExcerpt from CNBC's special "Ford: Rebuilding an American Icon" shows why instilling a new culture at Ford was mandatory to its resurrection.
